For Florida mountain bikers, there are five excellent singletrack options.

It doesn’t take a topographic chart to see that Florida is flat. So it might surprise you to learn that singletrack mountain riding exists in Florida. Although it is not the same as riding singletrack through the mountains, Florida mountain bikers can enjoy a variety of difficulties on the trails.

Here are five terrific singletrack places near Orlando and central Florida where you can have some off-road adventure.

  1. Soldiers Creek

During the week, go for strong singletrack run at Soldiers Creek Mountain Bike Trail. Although the route is only 1.4 miles long and follows alongside Soldiers Creek, there are some artificial features and challenges to keep you entertained. They can also be readily avoided if you don’t have the necessary skills.

2. Trails in the Snow

Snowhill in Chuluota is ideal for individuals wishing to relax and get away from the city and suburbs. With 8 miles of trails, this location is located in rural Central Florida and offers bikers a variety of trail options. Although the terrain is mostly flat, the vistas along the Econlockhatchee River are spectacular, and you might see some gators in the river if you keep your eyes alert.

3. Santos

Santos is known for having some of the nicest singletracks in Central Florida. They travel from Orlando to Ocala in a little over an hour, but it’s well worth it. If you want to spend a full weekend in the saddle, here is the place to go. There are so many paths to choose from that it’s difficult to get bored, and camping is available nearby.

4. Alafia River State ParkĀ

Alafia River State Park has Florida’s most challenging singletrack. With so many riders on the trails during the week, volunteers work hard to keep them clean and enjoyable for all. In comparison to Santos, there are fewer trails, but they are far more technical. It’s about two hours from Orlando, but the campground is close enough to make it a weekend vacation.

5. Graham Swamp

Graham Swamp has to be the closest singletrack in Florida that resembles mountain biking in the Rockies. The first mile and a half will leave you gasping for air and put your endurance to the test. The final five miles are just what singletrack should be. You’ll encounter some steep climbs, descents, and possibly even a rock garden or two. This singletrack is not for the faint of heart or the inexperienced.
